Aging Easily

“. . . If they made HBO available for everything it works for, three -fourths of the nursing homes in this country would shut down inside of six months. Everybody would go home. They wouldn’t need them, It works for stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s – Alzheimer’s, let me tell you. See, there’s a very real, very serious disease where the vascular tissue induces down in the brain with age. Creates dementia, senility. What everybody now calls Alzheimer’s” Dr. George Hart, a pioneering hyperbaric specialist and founder of California’s Long Beach Memorial Hospital’s Hyperbaric Medicine Department. Quotation from feature article "Medicare's Non-Covered Conditions -- a conversation with Dr. George B. Hart" by David Freels --  Hyperbaric Medicine Today,  Volume II, Issue II, April – September 2003, page 11.

We all age. When we are younger, we never think of becoming “old.”

As the years slip by, we all come to the realization that the clock is ticking. Along with the counting years comes a series of declines in our physical status.

These include:
Disorders of cognition, the “what-did-I-come-into-this-room-for” mental cloudiness.
Cerebrovascular insufficiency with neurological deficits causing hemiplegia and neuropathiesthe “ouch-my-feet-tingle” or “my-legs-won’t make-it-up-the-steps” feeling.
Peripheral vascular diseases such as Raynaud’s Syndromemy-fingers-are-cold-and-hurt” or other problems such as leaky blood vessels that cause wine-red blotches on the backs of wrists, hands and around ankles.
Chronic myocardial ischemic disease, where the older heart is just not receiving enough oxygen bearing red blood cells to power it along.

These are all of the major indications for the use of HBOT in the older person. "The main object of HBO is to counteract tissue hypoxia and improve metabolism. Both of these are important in disturbances of the brain, which constitute a major portion of the problems in geriatric patients treated by HBOT"  KK. Jain “Textbook of Hyperbaric Medicine” 3rd revised addition, pages 528 Role of HBOT in Rehabilitation of Elderly Patients.”

In essence, many seniors have occult illnesses, the so called “ghosts-of-the-past.” A common example of this is amongst those that were firefighters. Jim's story, below, shows how HBOT  can not only cure the ailments of ageing, but restore youthful vigor.
